Book Review

Mother-daughter duo Jessica and Emily Burnstein are headed out on a highly-structured college tour through some of the best colleges on the East Coast. Both have different reasons for going on the tour. Jessica views the tour as an opportunity to bond with her daughter, that’s if she can step away from work for the time she’s away. Emily sees this as an opportunity to feel out future colleges and see if college is really for her.

This story is told alternating between Jessica and Emily in the first-person. Perspectives typically lasted between a few paragraphs and a few pages. The entire book takes place over a week traveling from DC to NYC on a college tour run by luxury company E3, which sounded both like a great time and a total nightmare. My favorite part was the hilarious commentary from both Jessica and Emily on their relationship and on the other people in their lives.

This is definitely a feel-good, heart-warming mother-daughter story. I don’t believe there was anything particularly triggering or heavy in this story. It would make an excellent beach read or summer vacation read.

Thank you to Berkley for my review copy! All opinions are my own.
