If you haven’t had a chance to read The Simple Wild yet, I highly recommend it! There’s three books in the series: The Simple Wild, Wild At Heart, and Forever Wild. The series follows Calla, a lost twenty-something living in Toronto. When she finds out her estranged father Wren is sick, Calla flies to Alaska to see him. Life in Alaska is radically different from her life in Toronto, and Calla struggles to adjust. She meets Jonah, one of the bush pilot’s for her father’s company. Jonah would like nothing more than to take Calla the city girl back where she belongs, and while he’s probably right, Calla wants to prove him wrong. As the two get to know each other, they form an unexpected bond, and their bickering turns into so much more.
I loved The Simple Wild series. It made me long for a simple life in a rural setting. I quickly fell in love with Calla and the tough but sweet Jonah. These books made me laugh, cry, and swoon.
I recently finished the final book in the Simple Wild series, Forever Wild. Ever since I’ve had a massive book hangover so I decided to update my list of similar books. Some I have read, some I haven’t yet, but all look amazing. If you too have similar feelings after finishing the series, this list is for you!

Set in a rural mountain town in California, Virgin River has many of the same elements as Wild At Heart: rural setting, close knit community, and plenty of romance. Plus it has a complementary Netflix show and it’s the first in a long series so it’ll be awhile before you feel the same woes of a finished story.

Set in a similar rural setting, Archer’s Voice follows Bree Prescott as she moves to the quiet lakeside town of Pelion, Maine, hoping to find some peace. There she meets Archer Hale, an isolated man facing demons of his own. Reviews promise that this is emotional and refreshing.
