Book Review
Kitty Hart, renowned as the Kitty Whisperer, is riding the wave of internet fame with her thriving cat-sitting business. However, she begins to doubt if her life is on the right track after an embarrassing encounter with her latest client. The situation worsens when Miles Thorn, who dislikes cats and struggles with first impressions, unintentionally tackles Kitty while trying to protect the cat he calls “the gremlin.” Amidst their awkwardness, an unexpected attraction blossoms. Can these polar opposites overcome their differences and find a purr-fect happily-ever-after?
If you’re looking for a book to give you all the warm fuzzies with a bit of steam, this one is for you! Told in alternating first-person perspectives, both main characters are Sunshine and there are multiple animal characters (and hockey players) who play a prominent role.
With that said, it does have its heavy moments. Both characters deal with residual grief from the loss of close family members in their childhood, which has a massive impact on their lives. Miles is also caring for his mother. She has early-onset Alzheimer’s and her care is squarely on his shoulders.
If you like forced proximity and are a fan of cats and hockey, this one is for you!
Thank you to Forever and Netgalley for the advanced copy. All opinions are my own.
Synopsis from Goodreads
Kitty Hart has become internet famous as the Kitty Whisperer for her expertise on all things feline, and as a result, her cat-sitting business is booming. But lately, she has a terrible feeling that maybe her life isn’t quite going where it’s supposed to—especially after falling face-first into her newest client. Not exactly the best first impression.
Fortunately, Miles Thorn is just as bad at first impressions. Strike, he doesn’t like cats, especially Prince Francis, the haughty and mischievous Sphynx his mom left in his care. Strike tackling Kitty to the floor in a misguided attempt to save the pet he continually calls “the gremlin.”
As awkwardness slides into attraction and things start to turn purr-sonal, will these two complete opposites ever be able to find their furry-tail ending?
